Avoidance Is Not The Answer...

I don’t want to lift weights because it hurts my back…

This is a statement I have heard from many potential clients over the years. While I agree it’s not nice to do things which cause pain or discomfort this is a situation where it’s in your best interest to get better!

Every day we are required to lift things, to stand up, to sit down, to pick things up and to put them down. It’s part of being a human.

In my opinion going through life not being able to do these things for fear of hurting yourself would not make it an enjoyable experience…

So rather than avoid the issue because it is hard or will challenge you do more of it. Start small and have someone teach you. Then as your confidence grows increase the difficulty over time. Lift heavier things, lift different things and practice good technique every time you pick something up whether inside or outside of the gym…  

Continual avoidance or saying it’s not for you is bullshit because we all have to lift things at some point. You may as well start practicing now so when the time comes you can do it safely!
