Getting started
How do I get started at Accelerate Strength?
Book a free trial class. You meet a coach, train in a coached class and see if we are the right fit. If you like it, the next step is the 10-Day Experience, then you choose a membership that suits your week.
Is the first class really free?
Yes. Your first trial class is free with no commitment. Pick a time using the free trial form and a coach will be there to look after you.
What is the 10-Day Experience?
After your free trial, the 10-Day Experience is $45 for 10 days. It includes coached classes, goal setting, nutrition support and access to our recovery area, so you can see how training with us fits into your life before choosing a membership.
I have never trained before. Is that OK?
Absolutely. Most of our members started out feeling the same way. Every class is coached and every workout is scaled to your level, so you start where you are and build from there. See why members choose us.
How is Accelerate Strength different from a normal gym?
Fitness to us isn't just sweating it out for an hour to burn calories, or following a TV screen. It shapes the quality of your life: it helps prevent injuries and makes you more resilient. Here you will be coached and challenged to reach just beyond your comfort zone, so the things you do in daily life get easier. Read client results from our members.
Classes and booking
How big are the classes?
We limit all classes with technical movements to 14 members per coach. For non-technical classes the ratio is higher. Either way, a coach runs every class and keeps an eye on your movement.
How do I book classes?
Members book the classes they want to attend up to 72 hours in advance. Check the class timetable to see what is on.
When are classes on?
We run classes 7 days a week, with morning, midday and evening sessions. The full schedule is on the timetable.
Do you offer childminding?
Yes, at select CrossFit Mums sessions. Check the timetable or ask a coach for the current times.
What programs do you run?
CrossFit classes, HYROX training, strength classes, personal training, seniors classes and a free Sunday Run Club. See all programs.
Where are you?
Unit 17/5–13 Parsons St, Rozelle NSW 2039, a few minutes from Balmain, Leichhardt and Annandale. See the contact page for directions and how to reach us.
Memberships
How many times per week should I train?
Everyone's circumstances are different: kids, work, social life and other commitments. That is why our memberships are structured the way they are. You pay for the number of sessions you do per week and commit to a timeframe that suits you.
How much does a membership cost?
It depends on how many sessions per week you choose and the length of your membership. After your free trial, your coach will walk you through the options so you can pick what suits you.
Can I put my membership on hold?
Yes. We need 2 weeks' notice. On a 12-month membership you can go on hold for 4 weeks during the year, and on a 6-month membership for 3 weeks. Fill out the Membership Hold Request form and we'll sort it for you.
What if I need to cancel my membership?
Complete the Membership Cancellation form. The notice period depends on the term of your membership; it is set out in your membership agreement when you start with us.
Training
What if I can't lift the weights or do the movements?
Most of our members started out feeling exactly the same way. We currently have members as young as 14 and as old as 75, and everyone in between. Our coaches scale every movement and every weight so you can train safely and progress at your own pace.
Is every workout really intense?
In short, no. Quality movement comes first. Intensity is added only once you can move well, and your coach will help you find the right level for you on the day.
Is the workout different every day?
Yes. Our programming is built for general fitness, so it is varied from day to day while following a plan that progresses over time. See our training philosophy, or browse past workouts in the Daily Fix.
I have stopped seeing progress. What should I do?
This is common in training. Your body has got used to the stimulus. We get all of the progress we can from doing things one way, then change the stimulus enough for your body to adapt again. Talk to your coach and they will help adjust your plan.
Will I bulk up?
In short, no. Building a lot of muscle takes years of specific training and eating. Our training builds strength, fitness and a body that moves well.
Health and nutrition
Do you help with nutrition?
Yes. Our coaches can help you with nutrition that supports your training, and the 10-Day Experience includes nutrition support. See our nutrition guidance and the weekly high-protein recipes in the Daily Fix.
I have an injury or niggle. Can I still train?
Let your coach know before class. We focus on what you can still do and adjust the session around it. For assessment and treatment, our partners at Healthspace in Rozelle can assist. We don't diagnose injuries.
How do I stop being sore from training?
Some soreness is part of training. It is called Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS) and it eases as your body adapts. To recover well: get enough sleep, eat well, move your body every day to promote blood flow, and reduce stress where you can.
Do I need to take supplements?
In short, no. We recommend a whole-food diet with a variety of fruits and vegetables, proteins and quality fats, in amounts that support your training. If you do want to use supplements, we stock products from Australian company True Protein.
